Overview
Your privacy is the most important part of this extension. "Worldclock extension by Oscar" (the "Extension") is designed to be your personal dashboard. It runs entirely on your computer, within your browser. I do not have a server. I do not see, collect, or sell any of your data. Period.
This policy explains what data the Extension saves (on your computer) and what permissions it needs to function.
Data You Provide (Stored in Your Browser)
To provide you with a personal dashboard, the Extension saves the following information using the browser.storage.sync API. This data is **synced to your personal browser profile** (Chrome or Firefox) so it's available on all your devices. It is never sent to me.
- Clock Data: The list of cities you add, any "teammate tags" you assign, and your 12/24-hour preference.
- Bookmark Data: Your list of bookmarks, your folders, and which bookmarks are marked as favorites (
isFavorite) or how many times you've used them (visitCount).
This data is stored solely for the Extension's core features. It persists until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear its data.
Data We Fetch (Anonymous API Requests)
To provide rich, ambient information, the Extension sends anonymous, read-only requests from your browser to the following services. These requests are not linked to you or your data.
https://api.unsplash.com: To fetch a beautiful new background image.https://images.unsplash.com: To display the background image.https://api.openweathermap.org: To fetch current weather (temperature and icon) for your saved clocks.https://date.nager.at: To check if it's a public holiday for your saved clocks.
Permissions We Request & Why
The Extension requests the minimum permissions necessary. Here is a clear breakdown of why each one is needed:
storage: To save and sync your clocks and bookmarks usingbrowser.storage.sync.tabs: To get the URL and title of your current tab *only when* you click the "Bookmark this page" icon or menu item. It does not read your browsing history.alarms: To create a 3-second temporary alarm. This is used *only* to clear the "SAVED" badge from the toolbar icon after you bookmark a page.contextMenus: To add the "Bookmark this page," "Most Visited," and "Favorites" options to your browser's right-click menu.Host Permissions(listed above): To allow the Extension to fetch data from the APIs for images, weather, and holidays. The Extension **cannot** and **does not** read or change any data on these sites (or any other site).
Data Sharing
I do not share or sell any of your data. The extension has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no way to transmit your personal data to me or any third party.
Security & Remote Code
All of the Extension's code (JavaScript) is bundled and included in the extension package you download from the Chrome or Firefox store. It does not execute any remote code, protecting you from malicious changes.
Your Choices
You are in complete control. You can review, change, or delete your clocks and bookmarks at any time within the extension's dashboard. You can uninstall the Extension at any time to permanently delete all of its data from your browser.
Changes to This Policy
If I add new features that require changes to this policy, I will update it and notify users in the extension's release notes. But the core principle will never change: your data is yours and will never be collected or sold.
